sulfer 8 shampoo that ought to do it.
Do you have dry flaky patches anywhere else? could be psoriosis

My 3 mo old son has cradle cap. Tried baby oil, brush and shampooing. Keeps coming back. what else can I do?

The flakes would be less that day but it would just come back the next day. I also don't know if the little pimples on his scalp means it's inflamed and would need to see his doctor. My 3 mo old son has cradle cap. Tried baby oil, brush and shampooing. Keeps coming back. what else can I do?
*raising hand* My daughter still has ';cradle cap'; aka dandruff. ;-P I highly recommend gentle naturals cradle cap treatment. Worked SOOO freaking well. I would bet the little pimples are clogged pores from the oils.

GL!My 3 mo old son has cradle cap. Tried baby oil, brush and shampooing. Keeps coming back. what else can I do?
My son had a really bad cradle cap. My monther-in-law said it was the worst she has ever seen. I tried many things, but nothing helped. The cradle cap eventually went away. It took about two months. The only consistent thing we did was to wash his hair every second night and scraped it a little bit.
It can be fungal. You can either use a small amount of antifungal shampoo (such as head and shoulders) or more natural remedies such as mild vinegar or lemon solution, or grapefruit seed extract.

If your baby is formula fed you might consider adding probiotics to the formula. If you are breastfeeding and you take probiotics they will appear in your milk, because of the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding it is not better to give the baby probiotics separately until they start non-breastmilk foods.

If you are breastfeeding and a vegetarian you may need some extra B vitamins, though among vegetarians and vegans it is controversial as to whether a vegetarian or vegan diet is really lacking in B vitamins.

Causes

The cause of cradle cap is not clearly defined but it is not caused by an infection, allergy nor from poor hygiene. Possibly it has to do with overactive sebaceous glands in the skin of newborn babies, due to the mother's hormones still in the baby's circulation. The glands release a greasy substance that makes old skin cells attach to the scalp as they try to dry and fall off. There may be a relationship with skin yeasts (Pityrosporum ovale, newly renamed Malassezia furfur). Nutritionally oriented practitioners have speculated that the disorder is caused by the baby's immature digestive system being unable to absorb sufficient biotin and other vitamins of the B-complex.

Warning signs

Home remedies are appropriate with mild cases. If the condition thickens, turns red and irritated, starts spreading, appears on other body parts, or if the baby develops a persistent diaper rash, medical intervention is recommended. Fungal infection (tinea capitis) and scabies can mimic cradle cap.

Cradle cap is occasionally linked to immune disorders. If the baby is not thriving and has other problems (e.g. diarrhoea), consult a doctor.

Treatment

[edit] Scalp, behind ears, eyebrows

The common advice of applying (vegetable or mineral) oil liberally to the scalp and letting it soak in overnight or for lesser periods of time seems to conflict with the fact that Malassezia yeasts thrive in oily environments. If the cradle cap is not severe, you may try to comb it out gently after bathing. The softened scales can then be brushed away with a soft brush, comb or cloth, but if not done very gently, this can worsen the condition and bring about temporary hair loss. There has been no study done on these recommendations.

Applying petroleum jelly (e.g., Vaseline) liberally overnight is another popular treatment. The softened scales either fall off during the night, or can be brushed off in the morning.

Making a paste from sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and leaving it on the affected area for 10 minutes can also help lift the scales.

There is broad disagreement regarding the role of shampoos. Some sources warn against frequent shampooing, others recommend it. Mild baby shampoo is often recommended, while never specifying what ';mild'; actually means. Baby shampoos often contain detergent surfactants, perfumes, quaternium-15 and other eczemagenic irritants. Again, no studies have been performed.

Keratolytic (dandruff) shampoos (e.g with sulfur, selenium, zinc pyrithione, or salicylic acid) are generally not recommended as they sting eyes and may worsen the dermatitis. In stubborn cases some doctors do recommend them while others warn against the use of medicated shampoos in newborns due to systemic absorption. Dandruff shampoos often contain sodium dodecyl sulfate, a noted skin irritant.[1]

Steroid and tar preparations have also been used but have significant drawbacks. Immunomodulators (tacrolimus/Protopic, pimecrolimus/Elidel) have not been approved for babies under two years.

Ketoconazole shampoos and creams are taking first place in medical treatment of moderate to serious cradle cap. Research so far indicates that this anti-fungal medication is not absorbed into the bloodstream. Ketoconazole shampoo is currently made with a number of problematic irritants and allergens.

A Swedish study[citation needed] found good results from massaging the scalp with small amounts of borage oil twice a day. # Tolleson, A., and Frithz, A. 1993. Borage oil: an effective new treatment for infantile seborrheic dermatitis. Brit. J. Dermatol. 129:95.

Other home remedies recommended in various alternative sources and parent forums are herbal washes (e.g burdock or chamomile), aloe gel, and tea tree oil (Melaleuca oil) shampoo. Tea tree oil and aloe can be sensitizers; any worsening should be an occasion to discontinue the remedy in question. Both remedies have been tested in medical trials and found useful.[citation needed]
Mustella makes a great shampoo wash for craddle cap, I know they have it at Babies-R-Us and Land of Nod.
rub petroleum jelly on it and put him on a hat. It worked for my child.
My son had cradle cap, I put baby oil, brushed it, and used special shampoo etc but this just seemed to aggravate it, baby oil is actually really bad to put on their scalp, so I tried olive oil and stopped washing his scalp and it cleared up within days, I know its not that simple for everyone but it seemed the more I messed with it the worse it got
You might just have to give it time. Have you ever seen a toddler with cradle cap? It always goes away eventually.
You can use head and shoulder's. A little bit goes a long way.

My daughter had it and her doctor said to use that and it will go away. And it did and it never came back.

Good luck to you.
My daughter still has it shes almost 9 months Ive done the whole oil brush thing also and it will lighten a bit then just come back I figure screw it LOL it will eventually go away its not like its hurting her.
  • ink refills
  • How do i unclog a bath tub it has a plastic shampoo cap?

My son drop a shampoo cap in the tubHow do i unclog a bath tub it has a plastic shampoo cap?
Try a shop vac.How do i unclog a bath tub it has a plastic shampoo cap?
Try using needle nose pliers to retrieve the cap, they are long, thin pliers that can reach into tight spaces. If you don't have that you can also wait until the cap dries - water will affect this method - roll a piece of tape onto itself so it is double-sided. Take a wire hangar and straighten it out, put an ';L'; shape bend at one end, attach the tape to that end (so that it has a larger surface are to adhere to) and see if you can push the wire onto the cap to stick to it and retrieve it that way (use can try gum too if you wish).

Try using the hose of your vacuum cleaner to get it - use the narrowest attachment you have to create the greatest suction power from it. Do you have a shop vac or can you borrow one? Those are stronger than household vacuums.

Don't force the cap into the drain - it may become lodged somewhere in your pipes, hair, etc. can get clogged behind it, creating a much bigger problem.

My son has very severe cradle cap still.. his doctor has given him a medicated shampoo. Anyone else?

it's been 2 weeks and it got better, but it's starting to come back slow...My son has very severe cradle cap still.. his doctor has given him a medicated shampoo. Anyone else?
dont stress. it will eventually go away.

my son had the worst case I have ever seen, we called it cradle crap. I would put the oil on his head and take out scabs of it with a comb.

He is 19 now and cradle crap free, well ..he is 6'3'; so I assue its gone, I cant see the top of head anymore! My son has very severe cradle cap still.. his doctor has given him a medicated shampoo. Anyone else?
Baby Naturals makes a cradel cap shampoo that I used on my son. I used it everyday until the cradel cap was gone, and then for 2 days afterwards. After that, he never had cradle cap again. Once the cradle cap is gone, try rubbing some olive oil on his head to keep the skin there soft and moist. It shoudl keep the cradle cap from coming back, but make the skin soft enough to scrape off if it does come back.

Baby Naturals comes in a green bottle.
Try olive oil over night and see how it goes. It does go eventually - depends how old your son is and whether he has any other skin problems as it may not be that if he has other problems.
I asked my mom when my daughter had it (severely) and she said she put baby oil and used a comb.

So thats what I did and there was not a problem after that .

(I know it kind of made me want to puke all that stuff)

So I agree with the above...

    BABY OIL!
I only had this problem with my oldest child, and I used the medicated shampoo. I also used a baby toothbrush to gently scrub the scalp, and it worked really well.

    Good Luck - I know it's worrisome.
Start washing it more often. Daily is best.
Only one of my boys had this issue. I have three boys and two girls (12-2). He is now 6 and is beautiful! I used the baby oil, like many others said. I put it on his head just before bed when he was about 3-4 months old. Just enough to make his head wet, but not dripping. I left it on over night, as suggested to me, mind you, my first child didn't have this so I wasn't really sure what to expect. In the morning I took a baby comb and brushed through his hair. I was ';SHOCKED';, to say the least, when every single piece of his hair fell out while I combed it. I cried and cried. However, I must say, after all that, it never came back!! I hated what it did, but for me, I'd do it again, His hair grew back so nice and soft, and it grew in fast. I know this might not be every-ones' idea of a good thing, but knowing it wasn't bothering him (itching) anymore made it all worth it for me - and he was too young to care!.
You should use a soft baby brush and brush your baby's head while you nurse to help pass the time.

None of my babies had cradle cap, thrush, or the host of other maladies that I hear about babies. I must have been blessed, or babies are just plain sicker nowadays.
I USE TO PUT BABY OIL ON THE BABY'S HEAD AND TAKE A BABY COMB AND GET IT OUT, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS MANY TIMES, TRY TO KEEP SOME BABY OIL ON THE BABY'S HEAD, AND IT WOULDN'T BE SO HARD THE NEXT TIME IT COMES BACK. IF YOU WASH THE BABY'S HEAD EVERYDAY, THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN,
my little girl is 2 1/2 yrs she still gets it once in awhile. rub olive or any kind of kitchen oil on his head an hour or so before bath time, then gently wash it out with a soft brush, then always when you bath him just brush his hair and always keep his head clean.. it is not serious or contagious , so i wouldnt worry abou it
Try gently applying cooking oil to your babys scalp, avoid any that are derived fron nuts, esp. peanut, avoiding any potential bad reaction to nuts....massage it into the affected areas, leave it on overnight and gently scrape at the cradle cap with your finger nail the following day.

You can do this as often as you like, it makes the hair look yucky but it doesn't matter if you do this overnight and then bathe your baby in the morning after removing the crusts.

This was the most effective method I used with 2 of my babies.

Don't be alarmed if the scalp is a little pink for a short while after, or if a few hairs are removed along with the crusts, they will soon grow back.
I know most recommend baby oil, but that never worked for me. We battled with cradle cap for almost 3 years with my son. You can get P%26amp;S Liquid over the counter. The directions say to use it overnight but it can get messy - especially with a little one. I lathered his head up about 20 mins before bathtime, then gently scraped the scales out with a fine toothed comb and washed with head and shoulders shampoo. It only took about a week and it was gone, and never did come back. Worth a shot!!
I agree with the baby oil. Thats what we always did,(way back in 70's %26amp; 80's). Also you could call the baby's doctor and see what they think!
A doctor told me just to wash their head with dandruff shampoo. Adult shampoo, so you have to be careful not to get it in their eyes.

Should i shampoo/ condition my hair after a swim everyday?I always wear a swim cap whilst swimming.?

Does Chlorine ruin your hair?Should i shampoo/ condition my hair after a swim everyday?I always wear a swim cap whilst swimming.?
Chlorine leaves a heavy build up on your hair. Prolonged exposure to this build up will break the hair. does your hair feel slimy on the ends when wet? This is chlorine. You should use a Clarify Shampoo... such as rusk: clarify or Aveda: Detoxify. This removes any buildup on the hair. Use this 2X per week. Daily use may strip hair of oils it needs. Promise this will help, Good luck!Should i shampoo/ condition my hair after a swim everyday?I always wear a swim cap whilst swimming.?

Take good care of your hair! It will add to your charm - who can resist a person with lovely, silky hair? So do try out the above tips! Hope these little tips have been useful! :)

Tips To Stop Hair Loss %26amp; Keep Healthy Hair Here are some hair care tips that you can use to help stop hair loss and keep your existing hair healthy and looking great. Please don't take these tips lightly. They are very important . The only thing they require is your time and commitment.

    - Massage your scalp with your fingertips (not your nails) daily to stimulate and promote circulation to your scalp and reduce excess fallout. Invert your head while you shampoo %26amp; massage your scalp. This helps promote blood circulation to the head.

    - Essential oils %26amp; tea . To stimulate scalp circulation, massage the scalp with rosemary essential oil or rinse hair with tea made from sage.

    - Comb or brush your hair and scalp gently in the morning and at night. This helps break up hardened oils (sebum) that are clogging your hair follicles. Doing this alone has produced new hair growth. Do not over do combing or brushing.

    - keep a distance from dryer's heat. When using blow dryers, always keep the heat a good distance from your scalp and hair. Avoid heating the scalp and hair excessively. Excessive heat will increase hair loss, and excess fallout.

    - Avoid getting hair creams, lotions, styling gels and sprays directly on the scalp as they will clog your hair follicles. Use a light hold spray if you must.

    - After swimming in a pool, shampoo your hair as soon as possible to remove any chlorine residue. Chlorine is extremely damaging to the hair and scalp.

    - Avoid over-exposing your hair and scalp to the wind and sun. Good hair care over a long period really makes a difference!

    - Avoid tight hats and caps as they contribute to poor circulation, depriving the hair of proper nutrition and stunting new hair growth. The sweat, dirt and grime around the rim inhibit follicle health and contribute to build-up.

    - Always consult your health care provider for extreme causes of excess fallout and thinning. A medical condition or medication could be causing hair loss side-effects.

    - Strive for balance and harmony in both your personal and professional lifestyle. High stress factors can cause your body to react by fluctuating hormone levels. This in turn causes excessive oil secretion (sebum) which results in hair loss.

    - Pregnancy, nursing, menopause, and even birth control medication can cause constant changing factors on your nutritional needs and hormonal levels which contribute to hair loss and excess fallout.

    - Avoid ';crash and fad'; diets. Proper nutritious meals along with vitamin and mineral supplements are a key factor for healthy hair and skin.

    - Good hair care starts with awareness. These hair care tips, if followed consistently, will reduce excess fallout, hair loss, and promote new hair growth.

    - Reduce hair loss effects by increasing your intake of vitamin C found in fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruit and juices, parsley, broccoli, green peppers and black currants. Take a vitamin B complex everyday or brewers yeast. Increase your intake of protein found in meat, fish, liver, wheat germ, dried cooked beans and peas, tofu, cheese, milk and eggs.

    - Take dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc %26amp; saw palmetto. Supplements are useful when you can't get enough from natural food sources.

    - The Chinese believe that hair is nourished by the blood, and therefore influenced by the kidney %26amp; liver. Treatment is aimed at these organs using fleece flower root, wolfberry fruit or mulberry fruit.

    - Eliminate stress or else it can be disastrous to your precious hair!

    - Get enough sleep. Sleeping well is essential for the health of your hair as well as for the rest of your body.

There are ways you can help stop the grease from appearing but you have to work at it.

Do not wash everyday. The cleaner your hair is the more it can seep into your glands and harder it is to get rid of. When you do wash make sure you are washing with a cleaning shampoo and scrubbing the build up off. Take in mind that you also have to have a ph-balanced mild shampoo and lite scrubbing is recommended. Try to avoid conditioner at the roots, apply in the middle or on the ends.

Try to avoid oil in your daily food intake. And do eat more vegetables. You could visit your doctor but only after you check and consider your diet, drugs, alcohol, and your fatty food intake. Let's face it we see what McDonalds can do to your heart in a month, can you image your hair. You would be dripping everywhere.

Maybe it's time to change your shampoo. Ask your stylist what she or he would recommend. Avoid using shine products at all costs. Keep away from two-in-one shampoos and conditioners and any frizz serums.

To fix at the moment, rub a little Talcum Powder on your dried hair at the roots. Just make sure you wash it out. I wish they would event that magic product, but this will help until they do.

Here are 10 tips for to keep your hair strong, smooth, shiny and beautiful!

    1. Keep your diet balanced, and eat protein and calcium rich foods. Stay away from junk foods! This is essential for healthy hair.

    2. Foods and supplements to nourish your hair:

    * Beans

    * Yogurt

    * Almonds

    * Vitamin B

    * Fish

    * And of course, the magic potion for beauty - WATER

    3. Before washing your hair, comb it well to make sure all knots has been loosened from your hair.

    4. Before applying shampoo, use warm water (35 to 38 degrees Celsius) to run through your hair to rinse and wet it thoroughly.

    5. When applying shampoo or conditioner, don't use your fingernails to scrape through your hair. Instead, use your palm and fingertips to massage your scalp and hair gently, in circular motions. This will help the circulation and also help to keep your hair shiny and smooth.

    6. After rinsing away all the shampoo, run water over your hair for at least another half a minute (3 minutes is best) to ensure there are no remains of shampoo remaining in your hair, since this will cause a great deal of damage to your scalp.

    7. When applying hair treatment products, do so just after you have washed your hair, so that your hair can absorb all the good stuff while it is half wet. This will be the best time for it to absorb nourishment.

    8. NEVER go to bed with your hair wet! Hair that is half wet is most easily broken, and if you sleep during this time, your hair will be rubbing against each other, damaging your hair in the most terrible way.

    9. Too much pressure may lead to hair loss! Relax... try some good relaxation methods such as soaking in a nice scented bath, listening to music, and eating healthy comfort foods such as strawberries and grapes.

    10. Perming and coloring seriously damages your hair. Avoid it as much as possible. Also, when using hair setting products such as gel or putty, use as little as possible, because they hurt your scalp and hair. Wash them out thoroughly afterwards with a shampoo specially created for removing styling products.
Chlorine does damage your hair. It can strip natural oils, cause build-up that alters the color giving it a green or grey tint.

Wet your hair before entering and after exiting a chlorinated pool. This will reduce damage by allowing your hair to absorb the shower water instead of the chlorinated pool water. After swimming, use a shampoo designed to clarify your hair or specific ';swimmer's shampoo'; (available at Sally Beauty Supply stores). After shampooing your hair, apply a leave in conditioner.

Wearing a swim cap that is correctly fitted will nearly eliminate chances of damage. A well-fitted swim cap should keep your hair free of water.

    Best of luck!
Yes chlorine ruins hair. It will turn your hair a greenish tint. Buy ION Swimmer's Shampoo and ION Swimmer's Conditioner and ION Daily Leave - In Conditioner. I seen this product at Sallys Beauty Supply Store.
yes!!!! and to prevent this from happening, put some hair prods, like hair serum to your hair before going on a swim
    yea you should

    i did

the quarter just ended and i was in swimming

i used shampoo and conditioner everyday and my hair felt so nice

i think its a good idea

My 6 month old has eczema and cradle cap.how 2 cure it?best shampoo n cream?does it stay till they r toddlers?

johnsons honey shampoo or an oatmeal shampoo and body wash. any kind of baby lotion can help with the eczema and no typically it does not last until toddler stage. in some cases it has lasted that long, but very few that i have seen here. if it gets too bad, talk to pediatrician about it. there is a prescription out there for it.My 6 month old has eczema and cradle cap.how 2 cure it?best shampoo n cream?does it stay till they r toddlers?
my daughter had pretty bad cradle cap and I used Dentinox cradle cap treatment shampoo and it cleared it up really quickly

you should maybe go the the docs to see if you can get some sort of cream for the eczema

xMy 6 month old has eczema and cradle cap.how 2 cure it?best shampoo n cream?does it stay till they r toddlers?
my son had cradle cap. my doctor told me to wash it often and use a soft baby brush with the soap to remove the skin carefully. until he was 3 months old this was what i had to do. i also put baby oil (all natural no scent, the perfume can irritate the already tender skin) on his head afterwards. it can last until they are 5 years old i have heard, but this helped us. my sister-in-law had a harder time with her boys heads and found a wonderful paul mitchell shampoo for babies with cradle cap. my husband is a hair stylist and told me that teatree by paul mitchell would work too. good luck!
johnson and johnson has a shampoo specifically out for craddle cap I would try that........another thing I did with my daughter was.......put baby oil jel in her hair and take a fine bristled comb and brush through it to loosen it up.
The best thing to do is take your baby to her PCP, they may provide some cream for the baby. My son is 8 months and he has a slight case of eczema and they told me to just put some hydrocortisone on his skin. I think that he is too young to have something prescribed for it. Oh and yes they can have eczema when they are toddlers, my cousin is 6 yrs old and she still has it.
cradle cap: Johnson's baby oil at night, wash out with Johnson's baby shampoo in the morning. it goes a way fairly quickly

eczema: you need to get a creme from the doctor and use Avon Moisture therapy. that you're stuck with for life. it comes and goes.

Recently i am loosing soooo many hair while washing by shampoo. i regularly apply oil with e-cap and condition?

i don't know how to prevent the hair form falling but you can buy horse shampoo at the store and that will make your hair grow back a lot fasterRecently i am loosing soooo many hair while washing by shampoo. i regularly apply oil with e-cap and condition?
    It could be:

    - The sulfates (sodium laureth or sodium lauryl sulfate) in your shampoo.

    - The oil treatments themselves

    - hormonal factors (treatable with Hormone Replacement Therapy, Rogaine, transplants)

    - an autoimmune disorder (those run in my family....)

    - a scalp infection (is there a lot of dandruff, too?)

    - a reaction to a medication

    - a reaction to having a baby

    - a current stressful even happening now or three months ago

    - the season (sometimes women lose more hair in the fall.)

    - perhaps you're not getting enough protein, B vitamins, fat, or Omega 3 fatty acids (these are important for healthy hair growth)

Switch products and stock up on nutrients. If this doesn't work, it couldn't hurt to see a dermatologist. %26lt;3Recently i am loosing soooo many hair while washing by shampoo. i regularly apply oil with e-cap and condition?
Well, you could just be losing hair naturally. You're supposed to lose about a hundred hairs a day. I generally end up with a lot of hair lost in the shower, especially on days when I wear my hair up. If you're losing big clumps of hair, however, you should probably go see a doctor.
I have found some good tips in following link, It may be good for you too

My baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?

Massage some olive oil into the scalp and gently wash off next morning, try this for a couple of days and it will workMy baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?
rub baby oil in leave over night then gently lift it off should come off no problem cradle cap looks bad but its not harmfull will flake eventually if left aloneMy baby has cradle cap Ive tried dentinox shampoo it does not work HELP!?
hi Ruth - im not sure if this will work or not - but i have a very dry skin condition and i just use aqueous cream - it's water based so i dont think it would be too strong for your babies head - hope this may be of help
Massage a small amount of baby oil onto your baby's head. Leave it for a while and then brush his/her hair very gently and it should lift off. Obviously it will leave the hair a bit greasy so it will need to be washed after wards.
Olive Oil! It works wonders! My health vistor recommended it! Leave it on over night, then wash off!
both of my sons suffered with this also and i was at my wits end trying alsorts but what did help shift it eventually was baby oil. put it all over your babys head and leave it on all night then wash it off in the morning keep doing this and i assure you it will go
In the night time wet her hair with Baby Oil. Comb through and massage thoroughly. Leave it in until the morning. Then comb again and wash how you regularly do. Repeat if neccessary until it clears.
dont worry.its nothing and will go away! i put vaseline on my babys head than morning brushed with soft brush and washed it off.. dont ever try to pick it with your fingers if you do, you damage hair folicles and no hair will grow there again!
get a tub of vaseline and rub it all over babys head leave on all night then wash of in the morning may have to do it a few nights depends how bad it is this worked on my daughter hope this helps, and dont worry vaseline is gentle
Gently massage the baby oil into the baby's scalp, just a little at a time.

Then, use a soft baby brush, to brush the flakes away.
My pediatrician said to use the olive oil, and it worked for us, and my daughter had it really bad!
I used olive oil or baby oil on a piece of cotton wool and used this to rub it on the areas of cradle cap in a circular motion. It comes off and makes the cotton wool a yellow colour. Afterwards I would wash the hair in the bath. Use a really gentle shampoo and rinse thoroughly. If it's really bad it will take a while to come off totally but keep doing it and you'll soon get it off.
In order to avoid overly drying out the little one's skin, you might want to keep the baby's baths down to 2 or 3 a week. Also, research your baby care products as infant skin is extremely sensitive and needs to most gentle products out there. Many baby care products (including wash and lotions) contain ingredients such as fragrance and mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of skin, sitting on the top layer like saran wrap. Mineral oil is actually motor oil washed several times to make it clear. These products may cause irritation and get wiped off over time and give little to no benefit but rather a temporary feeling of softness. Baby's need pure, and safe water based products with the proper ingredients.

Arbonne has a great baby care line (hair and body wash, lotion, body oil, diaper rash cream, and sunscreen) that is botanically-based and pH correct, pediatrician and dermatologist tested, non-sensitizing, non-irritating, and formulated without nut oils. They are formulated with natural ingredients like oat flour which is an emollient and an emulsifier. It鈥檚 highly absorbent and hypoallergenic. Oat flour helps to soothe and soften dry, itchy and sensitive skin. I use Arbonne's baby care products on both of my children and have never had a problem with dry, irritated skin.

If you're open to trying a free sample, I'll be happy to send you one.
when my infant had it his dr told me to use a tiny drop of head and shoulders rub it in to a lather and then use a soft bristle baby brush to lighty brush the loose sking off. i also use i tiny bit of baby oil in their hair after baths

    good luck
My friend tried Olive oil and it helped, just rub in a small amount and leave.
you have to use quite alot of olive oil on for it to work effectively and quickly.

Put on before nap time. Leave for a couple of hours while they are alseep.

Remember to put a muslin or cloth underneath head so that it doesnt soak into mattress.

Then get a soft baby brush and with gentle quick flicks work from the fringe backwards to back of head.

Keep repeating process and cradle cap will lift off.

Do not use a baby comb and too harsh and do NOT use your fingers as this can damage skin and may spread infections.

Afterwards swaddle in towel tuck under arm then give thorough wash off with small amoutn of baby shampoo.

If this is done every time it starts to appear it will gradually cease altogether.

Hope this helps, its worked for me on many babies over my years of nannying.
I used olive oil. Makes the babies hair look a bit greasy but it worked! My health visitor also told me to dilute the baby shampoo and my daughters cradle cap cleared up in no time.
try baby oil or butter they both work.
Try Avent massage gel it worked within a few days and my daughter had it quite thick at one stage - the shampoo didn't work on my daughter either alternatively baby oil
Some olive oil and a gentle move of a comb over babys head very gentle and that should do the trick good luck
if i was you i would put olive oil, like the others said. i don't have a baby but i know some people who do so i know.
We used Selson Blue (on doctor's orders) and it worked wonders. Within 3 washings (6 days) it was basically gone.

However, with all adult and medicated shampoos, be very very careful not to get it in their eyes. Can be very bad.
    Hi!

All my kids have had cradle cap and it can be quite hard to get rid of completely. However, some researchers recently discovered what caused cradle cap and since then a new ointment is available. Go to the pharmacy and ask for an ointment containing borago oil. You can also buy it online, but I haven't tried that.

    It really works!

For more information, check my website, where I write about this in more detail. http://www.easybabylife.com/cradle-cap.h鈥?/a>

    Good luck!

  • Cradle cap and drandruff shampoo....Okayyyyyyy?

Ok so I took my baby to the doctor because of a rashes on her checks and was told she has cradle cap. She told me to get Head and Shoulders shampoo and put it on her face. Today her skin looks dried out. I used 1 teaspoon of shampoo and 3 teaspoons of water. Anybody dealing with this craziness???? I would like to know how long did it take to clear up and what to do for the skin dryness in the meantime.........Cradle cap and drandruff shampoo....Okayyyyyyy?
Yes it is fine. We asked our doctor about cradle cap and he said to use a little dandruff shampoo like a drop once a week. After using the shampoo it cleared up right away. You could also try Aquafor cream for the face. That also worked well when my son had baby acne,Cradle cap and drandruff shampoo....Okayyyyyyy?
My mom used it on me, she said she just ';touched'; the shampoo and that's all she used.

However all head and shoulder is is an antifungal, and there are plenty of others if this isn't working. You can get some antifungal cream or ointment from the drugstore, these are commonly used for yeast diaper rashes (and jock itch, athlete's foot, etc). They can be applied to the head as well, just try to avoid the eyes (not that it will cause damage it will just feel gross, they actually use an eye ointment for baby eye infections because its easier to get in and stays in longer). Ask the pharmacist because the no-name stuff is hidden all over because it is used to treat so many things.

You can also use grapefruit seed extract, but it can be a bit sticky in the hair. Grapefruit seed extract is available at most health stores. You use 15 drops per oz of distilled water (distilled is better than tap because of the junk in tap water). You would use it at that strength for at least two weeks after the symptoms are gone, then reduce the amount by 5 drops for a week, then reduce again. There is no harm in using it indefinitely though. You should probably use it at least twice a day to start but can just spray it on and leave it in.

If you are formula feeding consider adding probiotics which can help a lot.

However not all cradle cap is caused by fungus, so it may not react to the above treatments at all.
Cradle cap is an accumulation of sweat, the ';grease'; that helps hair grow and dead skin scales. We all shed skin as we change clothes, wash, and generally live. Babies who have cradle cap have the dead skin scales stuck to their skin. You need to use a gentle baby shampoo and massage to remove this. Brushing baby's hair with a soft brush after a bath and a couple of times a day will prevent this build up.

Sometimes, with newborns, the vernix (white sticky covering that protects the baby while in the womb) remains in patches and can contribute to cradle cap.

It's not a good idea to use adult shampoos as they can be a bit harsh. If you apply cream then that too can easily contribute to more cradle cap.

Cradle cap clears up quickly with the appropriate treatment. If baby's skin is dry in the meantime, rather than using cream use emollients and there are a few about specifically for babies. These are used for babies and children with eczema and can be bath additives and lotions.
i called my gramma. she had 32 children and over 200 grandchildren (the smallest family of the 32 is 7 children).

you probably don't want to use harsh chemicals like head and shoulders (works great to remove grass stains on clothing).

use a baby's brush and brush the head. cradle cap isn't necessarily contagious, but it will move around the head and face (sometimes on body parts, too). don't be afraid of using it. it's super soft and won't hurt baby's skin. the bristles need to touch and rub against the skin (like you are exfoliating your face).

you can use an oil with the brush if it's dry and scaly.

you don't want to brush hard, just don't be scared to do it. use a firm touch, not a hard hand.

it won't go away all at once. it will take a few days at least.
My doctor told me to use baby oil and a comb to loosen the cradle crap. Your babies scalp with be oily and then you must wash her head 3-4 times. I know it sounds weird but, it worked. Be careful not to irritate the scalp removing the cradle cap. It may take several times of doing this to get rid of it all but, stay with it. My daughter had another episode of cradle cap when she was 5 or 6. I did the same thing and it was more difficult with long hair but, it was not so severe. Blessings!
Cradle cap on her face? Sounds more like eczema. They sell over the counter cream for it. I think the best one is Aquafor. I would try that before doing what your doctor said. You can also ask the pharmacist while you are at the store. Good luck!
I used it and it cleared my sons up, it took about a week. Are you sure you washed it out properly? I tried rubbing oil in his hair and it just made his head very sore.
i have never heard of this and i wouldnt do it either...try using a nappy rush cream or a proper cradle cap cream which u can buy from a chemist/drug store
I would not use head and shoulder shampoo on myself, let alone an infant. Have you seen the chemicals that it contains? I especially wouldn't use it on a baby's face. Cradle cap is common in infants, on the head, sometimes behind the ears and on the forehead. But on the cheeks??? No. My son got a rash on his cheeks when he was about two months old. It was winter time and it was caused by the lack of humidity in the air. It cleared up of it's own accord. What exactly does the rash look like? If for example, it is baby eczema, than using harsh detergent such as head and shoulders would be the worst thing you could use. Instead wash your son's face with warm water and a wash cloth. If the skin on his cheeks is very dry, use a tiny amount of pure cocoa butter on his face and that should clear it up quite quickly.

You can also use pure aloe vera lotion on his face

    ';Cradle cap usually clears by itself after a few months but many parents prefer to remove it because they do not like the look of it. If scaly patches appear on the face or other parts of the body, this is not cradle cap and needs to be checked by your doctor.';

I don't agree with your doctor. I'd get a second opinion

What is the best shampoo for Cradle Cap?

My son has it, and it is worsening.

We've tried the baby oil, and brushing with a soft bristled brush, and egozite cradle cap lotion, to no avail.

I know there is no harm in cradle cap, but my nurse told me the cradle cap is quite thick, and could feel a bit tight on his scalp

(I honestly thought she was making that up, so I guess i must be a bit uneducated on the matter!)

So, is there any shampoo that helps with cradle cap, here in Australia?

I understand nothing will cure it, but is there anything that is even slightly helpful?

Thank you in advance! What is the best shampoo for Cradle Cap?
my daughter had cradle cap pretty bad i found sorbelene creme to be the best thing, i would just smear it on her scalp whenever we were sitting around and leave it for 5min or so then use a small comb to get it out also i would just put the creme in her hair and just keep re appling it whenever and only wash her hair every few days letting the moisturizer seep in so my advice go with sorbelene!!!What is the best shampoo for Cradle Cap?
WELL I USE DETINOX CRADLE SHAMPOO JUST GO TO YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET OR PHARAMACIST AND ASK FOR ANY KNOW CRADEL CAP SHAMPOO THEY WILL POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. Report Abuse

1 of my 3 kids had cradle cap badly, on my doctors advice I stopped using shampoo at all. the idea is that cradle cap is an over reaction to the oil/ph balance of the scalp. By not shampooing we allowed the skin to balance out. We had pinetarsol for the water in babies bath (due to exema) and just a light rinse with the water, and rubbing with a baby brush during feeds, loosened the existing cap, which washed out in the next bath.

It worked for us, and worth a try.

This only took about a week, and all clear.
I get it sometimes,I use olive oil with a few drops of Tea Tree oil and it seems to help wash it away if you leave it on for a day or so.I have psoriasis too and sometimes just mix in the psoriasis medication called Betamethasone with the the olive oil and tea tree oil and apply it all over my scalp after a shower and it goes away fast so it could be the steroid cream Betamethasone more than anything else.I also use a shower brush on my scalp.
When my son had cradle cap, it was a pretty minor case of it. But it did take a while to go away and we had to treat it everyday. Shampoo alone was not effective. We used baby oil and let it sit on his head for 10-15 minutes and then we brushed his head. We did wash his hair everyday as well, but the baby oil was really what helped get rid of the cradle cap.
I've read that Cradle Cap is connected to yeast. Coconut Oil kills yeast. just put some on and leave it. Coconut Oil is not harmful and its natural. I cant believe people are recommending dandruff shampoos for babies!

My daughter had cradle cap and the coconut oil cleaned most of it up, the rest I just left, its not harmful.

The second thing is the more you wash your little one the more your babes natural oils are removed and then the body produces more oil. Same thing happens with us and shampoo'ing our hair, if we stopped shampoo'ing our hair in about two weeks it wouldn't get oily.

    Good Luck.
Looks like all us Aussies are on tonight

Not sure about the problem the person above me has but we used Olive Oil

Cradle Cap is a form of dermatitis and it took our daughter 6 months to outgrow it (our first had nothing) - it was likely cuased by her milk intolerance (not allergy)

Olive Oil is good but Sorbolene is better - dont' use baby oil as it has mineral oil it and will make it worse.
My baby had a touch of cradle cap when she was about a month old, and her doctor told us to get adult Head and Shoulders. It worked! We stopped using the head and shoulders, and it came back. So now we wash her hair with it every time and her scalp looks great.

I'm not sure if they have Head and Shoulders in Australia.. it's an adult anti-dandruff shampoo.
almond oil is the best for getting cradle cap off. heat it a tiny bit, make sure its not too hot and massage onto babies head, use a babys brush to brush hair and you should see the flakes coming off, then just wash hair with normal baby shampoo. you will prob have to do this a few times. HTH
Old wives tale, use it don't use, olive oil, i used it and it works like a charm, try not to wash their hair to often and when you do dry it properly then gently comb olive oil through with a small comb, do it for a week, see mabe it works for you aswell.
WELL for a start your in Australia (WHERE I AM) and your Not gonna find ANYTHING you need at all!!! what is wrong with yu guys.

the Only thing that would work and be good is to use Head and Shoulders or Palmolive, the blue one that says anti dandruff. it smells pretty good too,.

just regularly wash with this and hopefully you will get rid of it. sometimes it will just come and go
I call it ';cradle crap'; lol. It may take several baby oil treatments before it completely clears, or it may stay for a while. My eldest daughter had it until she was 4-

You can also try an anti-dandruff shampoo, but you should ask your pediatrician before doing so-
We smothered our sons hair in olive oil and gave it a really good brush with a comb, got all the 'scales' off then a good wash with ordinary baby shampoo in the bath and it went and never came back.
MY BABY HAD A LiTTLE BiT OF CRADLE CAP AND THE THiNG THAT i DiD WAS WHEN i WAS BATHiNG HER, TO BRUSH HER HAiR WiTH A COMB NOT A SOFT BRiSTLE BRUSH; AND USE BABY OiL. ;] THAT WORKED FOR ME AND STiLL DOES.

Dandruff shampoos are supposed to work, the ones with salicylic acid and/or sulfur.
Hi fellow aussie mum, I use to use baby oil on my babies heads, %26amp; while feeding them or in the bath I'd gently scratch away at it.

Problems with cradle cap?-I found dentinox shampoo very helpful?

Best thing to do. Wash your baby's hair, dry it then part it and place baby oil on the scalp. Wait a little bit then use a baby comb or brush and just lift it. Then wash her hair again. It takes a little time but it works. Then from there always oil your baby's scalp. She should not have cradle cap again.Problems with cradle cap?-I found dentinox shampoo very helpful?
I rubbed some baby oil on my son's head, let it sit for a bit and then use a baby brush (takes a little time) and brush from front to back to loosen and remove the scales. It works great if you have the patience to do it. Do it over a towel though. BLEH.Problems with cradle cap?-I found dentinox shampoo very helpful?
I used selsun blue and baby oil

What's a good shampoo/home remedy for getting chlorine out of my hair? I swim, but don't want to wear a cap.

I like the Nieva for Men deep-cleaning formula. For a shampoo was wasn't specifically labeled as a chlorine remover it did a really good job of getting chlorine out of my hair (I also swim without a cap).

As for other shampoos you can use there's a whole bunch of chlorine removal shampoos that they sell all over the place. Either get an anti-chlorine shampoo or get a deep-cleaning formula. Don't get any hair replenishing products though, because you want to get the chlorine out and not put in stuff that will make more room for more chlorine to get into your hair. What's a good shampoo/home remedy for getting chlorine out of my hair? I swim, but don't want to wear a cap.
there's shampoo at walmart specifically made for chlorine removal. like 4 bucks for an entire bottleWhat's a good shampoo/home remedy for getting chlorine out of my hair? I swim, but don't want to wear a cap.
Hi you could mabe try Pert it sells at WalMart in Rolla MO 65401
Try Ultraswim. It's made to neutralize chlorine.

    http://www.ultraswim.com/
i like the one step shampoo, you can get it at overstockswimsuits.com for $6.40

    http://overstockswimsuits.com/misc.html
there's all types of swimming shampoo's that you can buy to get the chlorine out of your hair but honestly I've been swimming since I was 2 and I am obsessed with my hair...I just use normal shampoo and conditioner and my hair is still beautiful and chlorine free...as long as you wash your hair as soon as you get out of the pool, you'll be fine.
Lemon juice or like fresh lemonade
Baking soda neutralizes the acid. Put some on your damp hair, let it sit for a minute, then rinse it out.

Clarifying shampoo like Pantene ProV Clarity works too.

They make swimmer's shampoos but they don't do anything your normal shampoo doesn't.

    Good luck!
Back in the day ... we'd use Flex Conditioner before we swam because it has a certain amount of waxy build up in it.

Does leaving normal shampoo & cocanut oil in your hair with a shower cap over it smother head lice?

my daughter has head lice and i was wondering does this work?

if not what doesDoes leaving normal shampoo %26amp; cocanut oil in your hair with a shower cap over it smother head lice?
never heard of it but i highly doubt it will work. when i was a kid i happen to get them not only once but three times. You have to take every precaution like washing bedding, change brushes, and use the lice shampoo made for killing head lice(RID) it comes with a small tooth comb to extracts the lice and eggs from the hair. and make sure you kid does not go to school so she can't spread them. maybe kids at her school could of exposed her to them if you are not sure how she got them. tell any kids or people that your kid plays with or comes in contact with to use the shampoo also. weather or not they think they have them or not just to be on the safe side. so there is no chance of spreading.Does leaving normal shampoo %26amp; cocanut oil in your hair with a shower cap over it smother head lice?
Headlice treatment. Ask the pharmacist about it, they'll no what to give you.

I wouldn't recommend using shampoo to kill lice. It makes the hair so squeaky clean, which means after you've washed it off the next day, lice can easily climb back in. In fact you shouldn't be washing your hair constantly if you have lice.
It's possible, but even if they are dead they will still be in the hair. Lice secrete a glue that sticks them to the hair shaft, so even if the lice are dead you'll nee d product that kills lice to dissolve that glue and get the lice out.
It probably would smother the head lice but not the eggs. So I would go get a proper treatment.
Use olive oil. And sleep with it on. I had lice last summer. Hope I helped.

Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?

Last night I used Dentinox cradle cap shampoo on my 3 month old son, I've used it before, and it was fine, but this morning, I woke up to find him with a bright red scalp! It doesn't seem to be bothering him, but I want to know if anyone else has found this?

The shampoo seems to have highlighted his cradle cap in bright red!Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?
I found that too - I never used it again. My daughter is now 3 and has dermatitis on her scalp - I'm not blaming that shampoo, I'm saying that she obviously has a very sensitive scalp.

If the cradle cap comes back - give him a bath and wash his hair well, then just use a fine toothed plastic nit comb to pull the gunk out. It's not pleasant, but it's gentle and it works. I did that with my second and it hasn't came back since.Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?
I'm not sure if this will help you as i have not used Dentinx cradle cap but i have used Dentinox colic drops. I took my daughter off it after a week of using it, It smelt very strong, too strong. Tasted terrible! I wouldn't put it in my mouth and didn't want to put it in hers and her stools went very watery. I thought it was really bad and chucked it in the bin! As a result of it i don't like the brand Dentinox and think it's way too strong for babies! Sounds like it could be the same with the shampoo judging by what you say. I'd use a different brand i was you.
    Hi There

We had the same problem, and also had the redness all over my wee man's body as I wash his hair while in the bath so I stopped using it.

My health visitor said to use Aqueos Cream, you can get it at the chemist - it has helped though maybe not as quickly as the Dentinox would have.

    Good luck

    x
Oh, I used it on my LO when she was younger and she was fine, i don't remember it making her head red!!!

Is there a number on the bottle or the box you could ring and speak to them? If not then maybe stop using it for a week or so till it goes and try using it again to see of it still happens?
It's the rubbing action you use to massage the shampoo into the scalp that causes the redness. Don't worry it will subside as the day goes on.

Try olive oil, it sounds gross but it works a treat!
I used it from time to time and didn't have this problem. It cleared up the cradle cap with no side effects. But you should stop using it. Try olive oil. It's supposed to work just as well.
    oh dear :(

the best thing to treat cradle cap is good old olive oil, leave it on his head overnight, and the next morning the cradle cap will lift right off :)

  • Soap cap color correction what is that and why prell shampoo?

Why do people say you can put shampoo on dry hair to get out color is this true? Is it recommended? What is a soap cap? On monday at hair school i am the the highlight of the day and color correction will be performed on me. She my teacher said we might need a soap cap.?Soap cap color correction what is that and why prell shampoo?
a soap cap involves shampoo and bleach to remove tint that is too dark

What's the best shampoo for cradle cap?

My doc said to use a drop of head and shoulders, but to very careful to avoid getting it in the baby's eyes, as it (obviously) isn't tear-free.

Massaging the baby's head with baby oil and gently combing with a fine toothed baby comb will also help loosen and remove the dandruff. It worked for me x 2!

Good luck! :)What's the best shampoo for cradle cap?
Put olive oil on at night, then wash it off in the morning. It works (but you have to keep doing it again if it comes back)What's the best shampoo for cradle cap?
The best thing that worked for me was some baby oil and a soft tooth brush.
I used Aveeno. I also had the ritual of gently scratching of the dead skin until it went away. This technique took a while, 3-4 days, but it worked and it didn't come back.
baby oil and lots of brushing (with the soft baby brushes).

Shampoo only adds to it so try to use very little no matter what brand it is.
I have been to 3 doctors for this simple problem and they said use selsun blue shampoo and i did and it works wonders. but also but a little baby oil in his/her hair between baths. that should help alot. good luck
johnson and johnsons and regular shampooing and combing.
We used a little baby oil on our newborn for the first few weeks. We would put a light coat on to help her little head retain moisture. I don't know if it did lots of good, but after a while it just went away. If nothing else just give the doctor's office a call. I am sure they can give you a better recommendation. Good Luck...I know that cradle cap is something I didn't like seeing on my baby's head either.
Johnson's and Johnson's. After bath also put baby oil on his/her head. I know it won't be great looking, but it will give the baby's scalp the necessary moisturizer to stop the peeling and flaking.
shampoo doesn't matter unless it's a priscription. use a brush when washing the head and hair and scrub vigorously.just don't hurt your child
Olive Oil or Mineral Oil. Try and shampoo less often actually. If it still doesn't go away ask the pediatrician.
    Try Johnson and Johnson
Arbonne Baby Basics cleared up my daughter's cradle cap in just 2 shampoos and it hasn't come back. You can only get it from a consultant though so if you don't know one that can be tricky. The good thing about it is that it's made with only 100% natural plant derived ingredients and has no petroleum products. I've added a link below to a home remedy that a friend gave me and said worked for her but it was too much of a hassel for me, lol. If you'd like to know where to get the shampoo let me know, and good luck!
I don't think that the shampoo matters as much as using a soft brush to gently remove the dry skin when you are washing the baby's head.
    Johnson%26amp;johnsons
    phisodrem
The thing that worked the best for my four month old was baby oil and his brush, none of the shampoos worked they just dried out his head more.
    j%26amp;j w a fine tooth comb
The best for cradle cap is Cradle Cap Treatment from Gentle Naturals it is made by Orajel. I couldn't get anything to clear up my sons cradle cap and I read about this stuff it is almost $8.00 but it is well worth it.

Any cures for cradle cap? Have tried olive oil and Dentinox cradle cap shampoo.....?

I'm a C.N.A. My specialty is personal care and took instruction from a nurse to care for a person's special skin problems. Cradle cap in a baby is caused by the fact that the baby is growing and the head has collected dead skin cells on the scalp very fast. What you do is gently comb the head all over. Then, you add baby oil- massage the scalp. Leave this on 15 minutes at least. Next, gently comb (with a small comb) the whole scalp again to loosen the built-up skin from the scalp. Then you wash the hair, massaging gently and comb the scalp for a third time -then rinse thoroughly. Comb the scalp again. This will do a lot to remove most of it. Repeat the next day and do once a month.Any cures for cradle cap? Have tried olive oil and Dentinox cradle cap shampoo.....?
With all 3 of my kids I would rub the comb on their scalp right after their bath so the skin was soft. The dry skin would come up and I could just wipe it off their head. By the time they were 3 months old they didn't have anymore.Any cures for cradle cap? Have tried olive oil and Dentinox cradle cap shampoo.....?
The gentlest treatment is to simply rub a small amount of baby oil or olive oil onto your baby's scalp. Wait several minutes for the oil to soften and loosen the scales, and brush them away with a soft brush or a dry terry-cloth washcloth.Frequent gentle shampooing may prevent the build up of scales. good luck

    cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
Try switching shampoos. My children didn't get on with one brand and I switched to Johnsons - and the cradle cap disappeared. But I've heard other people say that Johnsons gives their babies cradle cap and they've had to switch to another brand.
wet your babys hair and put olive oil on it leave for about 1-2 mins then gently brush with a head lice comb, trust me it really works i had to do it with my son.
i used everything and nothing got rid of it...my sons was really bad! teh skin would come off in chuncks and would make it bleed!he was allergic to most of the products i bought and the dr recommended..however oilatum shampoo worked best for my son and also a cream from the dr called epiderm..its like a big tub of soft white parrafin..its VERY greasy and my son would always look like a melting candle when he had it on but it could go everywhere on the body and could be put on as much as u want even 100 times if you fancied! we would keep applying it all day then wash it off in the bath then use a soft brush to brush off the skin then put more on..it worked wonders for me.

cant say it will work for you but its another idea to add to your list
I used Johnson's baby oil , leave on 4 a few minutes then brush with a very soft tooth brush !!!!!
    No cures - it happens
apparently rubing lard on to a babies head works worse thing you can do is pick it off
this sounds mad but butter works a treat, my friends little boy had it and she tried everything to get rid of it and the only thing that worked was putting butter on it before bed then washing it off in the morning. hope this helps.
Both of my girls had it, and I had no idea what to do with my first one. It went away when she was around four months old. My second had it and I tried everything. It finally went away when I used baby oil after I washed her hair. I used a soft brush to scrub her hair and fluff off the dry stuff. After that, I washed her hair again with the baby shampoo that had lotion in it, and rinsed it all off, and just put baby lotion after the bath. It went away within a week.
Here is what i done when my son was a baby: I would rub baby oil in his head and then take a fine tooth comb and run it through his head and get all that guk out. I would do this every 2 weeks until he did not have it anymore
Try putting baby oil on it for a while. Then wash it out. It should just comb out a bit at a time. You need to do it for a week or so though.
Also, take a small baby comb and gently comb out the dead skin. You may have to do it every day for a while till it goes away. I always did that and used a little baby oil.
i used baby oil but this is very common so dont worry it will eventually go
this sounds daft, but i'm 20 and i get cradle cap now!! dnt ask why...no idea. anyway. clearly have far to much hair for soaking my head in olive oil to be pratical so i have a medicated shampoo from the doc's don't kno if they'd give it 2 a baby tho.

could try yoghurt, my friend was feeding her baby yoghurt and managed to get it all over the baby's face n head (really didn't want it) but she noticed that it worked better than Dentinox which with hers like urs didn't work a bit.

    good luck m8!
If your bub has sensitive skin then try bathing them in pine tarsal, there is also a pinatas product for cradle cap. But if it's not bothering them then just leave it alone...My 4 month old has it and all I do is rub it while he's in the bath then when I dry it and after that just brush with a soft brush. Don't worry it will go away!
my son had a severe case of cradle cap, to the point that his scalp would regularly bleed. i was told to use dentinox but it wasnt very good. now i use the simple all in one hair and body wash followed by olive oil. when it was really bad i also used olive oil on his scalp throughout the day because this helped to stop it from getting so dry. different babies are different so this might not work but i would also recommend the johnsons range of baby products.

i USED A PLUNGER, A WIRE, A STEAK KNIFE AND IT DIDN'T WORK. I DONT HAVE A SNAKE! I REALLY NEED HELP PLEASE!!! MY WHOLE SHOWER IS NOT JAMMED, BUT THE CAP WAS OPEN WHEN IT WENT DOWN...

    MY PIPES ARE PLASTIC!!!

I NEED ANSWERS PLEASE!!!WHITE RAIN SHAMPOO CAP JAMMING MY DRAIN, NEED ANSWERS!!!?
You tried a steak knife??? I assume you can see the lid and were trying to stick the knife into it so you could pull it out?

If you can see it you might try to use an electric drill and drill a hole in it. You will have to push down hard to keep the cap from turning and be ready to stop the drill immediately so that you don't drill into the pipe.

once you have a hole in the lid, take the wire and bend a very small ';L'; shape on the end.(make it short enough it will fit through the hole) --pushing the wire against the side of the hole in the lid, pull the lid out.

If you can't see it but can get to the pipe, take a saw and cut the pipe where you need to to get to the lid then take the lid out and go to a hardware store and buy a coupler joint and glue the pipe back together. Actually, you might want to buy the coupler joint (you may need two) before you cut the pipe so that you will cut the pipe in a location where the joint will be able to fit when you do get around to gluing it back together.

Make certain you get the right glue for your pipe.

If you can't see the lid or have access to the pipe, you had better be asking about patching sheet rock.WHITE RAIN SHAMPOO CAP JAMMING MY DRAIN, NEED ANSWERS!!!?
Shiftles has the best answer.... you can do this!
If the lid is dry, put masking tape or duck tape on the end of a screw driver, with sticky side out. Just press the tape into the lid to get it stuck to the tape %26amp; pull it out.
try using a bunch of sticky tape on the end of a stick it works for sink drains. Good luck
It's time to call in the professional to get your plastic cap out of the drain.

Unless you have a local rental agency that has plumbing snakes, you are more likely to create more harm (and expense) than if you simply call the man and let him fish out the offending shampoo cap.

Shop around for the best price and see what they charge to just come out and look at your problem.

    Good luck.
My husband uses an old wire clothes hanger he turns it into a snake and does everything he can to pull everything out... then complains to me about how much of my long curly hair he pulled out. He is so sweet! Want him to come over?

    Good luck.
If it is not down too far try a long handled ';cork screw'; that might work.

    Best of Luck
If you can get below the drain, remove the trap. That is where you will find the cap and replace. I just cleaned mine and found several caps inside. Good luck.
Borrow a Wet/Dry shop vac and see if that will dislodge it. You might have to seal the area around the hose.

Dropped shampoo cap in shower, clogged drain! HELP!?

I know the most common culprit of clogged drains is hair, but this time it's not. We never got around to buying a stopper for our shower, and today I dropped a small plastic cap that went right down and now after a minute in the shower it's filled with inches of water. We have a crank snake from the hardware store but I was unsuccessful doing anything. My boyfriend is out of town for the weekend, so I'm on my own. I thought about calling a plumber but money is tight! Any suggestions?? Dropped shampoo cap in shower, clogged drain! HELP!?
One thing to try before dis-assembly. If you have, or know anyone that has a high power shop vac, I would try that first. Since shop vac's are usually wet or dry, try running water till it stops draining, then try vacuuming. If its a small cap, maybe you will get lucky. Good LuckDropped shampoo cap in shower, clogged drain! HELP!?
That one you have to take apart. But see if someone else has a better idea. Don't ruin everything over some bizarre answer either! I believe you will have to take it apart.

    Shampoo Cap?

Sorry I just asked this question, but no one answered...

So I'm not a practicing hair stylist anymore, and I forgot a little about shampoo caps. I currently have a level 4RV in my hair, but I want to go light brown again, around a level 6-7A. Should I just mix some Matrix SoLite 40 vol peroxide into my shampoo, and do a few of those, around 15 min each time? Or just go ahead and mix up some V-light bleach with some shampoo? What would work better? Also, have you ever tried the Shades EQ metallic series from Redken, and if so, did you like them for neutralizing the red?Shampoo Cap?
Okay here's what you have in colors

4RV........level 4 with Red and violet

6-7 A....level 6 light brown and probably A for ash.

If you use 40V remember that is a lifting agent and most not be used on the scalp. Unless a professional training is under your belt.

Would use V- light bleach with shampoo.......never been happy with the color.

Don't like the Shades EQ metallic i stay away from.Shampoo Cap?

  • What's a good swimming cap that keeps your hair dry? Chlorine removing shampoo?

i'm on the swim team and try to get my hair wet as little as possible since it's hard to manage. swim caps i've used dont work but i wanted to know if there was one that does, if not a swim cap then something else. and also a shampoo that removes chlorine and dirt and impurities. price doesn't matter. What's a good swimming cap that keeps your hair dry? Chlorine removing shampoo?
See these pages below .You have to experiment but dry or dryer hair is possible.

Try two caps like the team cap page suggests with a head sized bubble strap cap outside. The inner cap has got to cover the ears to really work. . You dont need to use it for every swim to help protect your hair.

If thats too tight try the swim band. Its just a regular cap cut off. The silicon ones work great for a swim band. Both are simple easy ways to protect hair and really work! What's a good swimming cap that keeps your hair dry? Chlorine removing shampoo?
Sorry, but there is no such animal as a swim cap that keeps your hair completely dry.

As for the shampoo, Ultraswim makes a good one. I lifeguarded and taught swimming for 8 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for 5 years year-round and have blonde hair, and Ultraswim kept my hair from turning green. It's good stuff.
You aren't going to find a swim cap that is going to keep your hair dry, especially through a swim practice. I like the Aveda hair detoxifier, and a really good protein conditioner afterwards.

Even if there was bacteria in that cap water, the chemicals in the shampoo would've killed it. But be sure you washed any other place that water could've touched you.I used my husbands shampoo and it had water around the cap that has been there for months . gross!?
It should be fine if the shampoo has not expired yet and there was nothing wrong. If you are too worried, you can always go see a doctor!
yea your hair will fall out :D
no, but if you want to be safe you could wash your hair again ;)

When removing a dark color from hair can I use a bleach cap, if so do I use shampoo and bleach, than filler?

how do i make a bleach cap and how long do I leave it in the hair. What I'm trying to do is remove the black hair color which was applied to cover red highlights. When removing a dark color from hair can I use a bleach cap, if so do I use shampoo and bleach, than filler?
bleach cap or shampoo cocktail will remove most of the black but leave you with a red orange base, What filler are you using, what is your target color? If you are not aware of the color compensation you need to achieve the result you want I suggest you see a color specialist. You will make a mess of your color if you are not trained in corrective procedures.

Mold is bad when it is airborne. You will be totally fine. The quantity was not great enough to affect you. We do water damage and mold removal in Tampa Florida. I get questions like this all the time.I used my husbands shampoo and afterwards i noticed there was mold around the rim and and water around the cap?
I doubt you will. Just throw away that shampoo and clean the area in the shower that it was sitting on. If you want, you could wash your hair again with something you know is not moldy :P

i dont think it would be a problem as long as you washed your hair with hot water adn a different shampoo afterwards.
You're fine. But, if you notice Grudge like claws protruding from your scalp..you may want to shave your head.

  • What kind of cradle cap shampoo is good?

Johnson's baby shampoo also use a little of Johnson's baby oil on the hair to help remove it with a fine tooth combWhat kind of cradle cap shampoo is good?
when our daughter had cradle cap when very young we used baby soap and then rubbed in olive oil to soften the scalp area, after it was cleaned up we used white vinegar and water each week till it went completely

How often should I shampoo my son's hair to get rid of cradle cap?

I know most people say to only shampoo once a week, but his scalp gets VERY flaky and the flakes get all over him and whoever is holding him.How often should I shampoo my son's hair to get rid of cradle cap?
I put lanolin oil in my daughters hair and let it sit for about an hour and it never came back. Only 1 use and it was completely gone. She is 6 months now. At the time she might of been about 2 months old but so far so good it hasnt returned. i used the oil that you put onyour nipples when you are breastfeeding. It is non toxic and vey light and I actually worked for her craddle cap after one use.How often should I shampoo my son's hair to get rid of cradle cap?
Shampooing frequently won't help, but I'm not sure where you got the once a week rule. Try gently brushing his hair when dry to loosen those flakes. Our pediatrician said it was fine to use over-the-counter cortisone cream for the crusty spots on his face.

Check out this link for more info.
Buy some head and shoulders shampoo. Put a little on the baby's head and brush it in with a soft brush. Finish up with the rest of the bath then rinse it off. It worked wonders for our daughter. Be careful though because if it gets into their eyes it burns pretty bad. Good luck
my dd had some flakes starting up, ped said to soak her head in baby oil, let it soak in for a while, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, wash hair and gently brush again to remove remaining flakes, rinse, dry, comb....i put one of those hats from the hosp on her head while it was oily (they are good for something!)

so it wasn't everywhere....worked like a charm, no probs since; when i wash her hair now, i still use the soft toothbrush on the shampoo, but that's just paranoia bc i haven't seen flakes since i did it the first time, although it did take a bit of work to get alll that oil out..gl
I have been washing my daughter's hair every two days with her bath...But to get rid of her cradle cap when she was a baby (15months now), I rubbed baby oil on her head really good, then i used a soft bristled baby brush and massaged it on her head really good, then I gave her a bath to wash it out. I may have had to do that 2 times in order for it to go away completely.
I give my 6 week old a bath every other day since he doesn't get that dirty, the day's he doesnt get a bath i wipe his face hands and feet and butt area with a warm washcloth

He had cradle cap to and it is now away with sue of baby oil or baby gel and lotion
Well..... they say less is better for cradle cap. But..... I find a good brushing and then a good scrubbing on his head really helps clear it up. I would say you could do it more then once a week.

A recommendation from my doctor was to use olive oil. This is definitely a two person job..... because baby gets very slippery..... and it takes a while and a couple of shampoos to get it out. I only use the olive oil trick when my sons cradle cap has gotten really out of control.

Apply the olive oil 10- 30 minutes before the bath. Then give him a really good brushing...... and then you need to give him a major bath. I usually have to shampoo 2-3 times after wards to get his hair nice and clean. But seriously..... its works.

You can also use dandruff shampoo..... such as head and shoulders...... this works well. I would also reccomend having someone help you with this bath too..... just to ensure you don't get any into the eyes. my doctor says its totally safe to use on baby.

Do you have a fine tooth comb...... these work way better then the brush...... to get the flakes out. I received a fine tooth baby comb in a toiletry baby kit...... and its been my best cradle cap friend. Another thing I do to help prevent it from coming back...... is I keep a comb or brush on his diaper changer. Every time I change a diaper...... i give his scalp a brushing. This is a good way to remember to do it frequently and also a handy time to do it.

I have also seen a cradle cap care kit at the store. I saw one at k-mart..... i did not purchase it..... but it looked like it had some handy tools and shampoo in there. That may be worth looking into.

    Best of luck to you.
Cradle cap can usually be helped by shampooing the baby's hair with a mild type of baby shampoo (perhaps more frequently than usual) and brushing with a very soft bristle brush to loosen the scales. You can also use a fine-toothed comb to remove the scales. What I found to work the best is the Aveeno baby wash and shampoo. It worked wonders for my son's cradle cap. I wouldn't bathe your baby everyday though, cause that will dry his skin out. Bathe your baby once every two days.

A mild soap should be used to wash any other body areas that are affected besides the hair and scalp. If the cradle cap symptoms also occur on the face and/or in the diaper area make sure a pediatrician is consulted. It is important to contact your pediatrician before using a medicated shampoo or cortisone creams.

In some cases, the doctor may prescribe an ointment containing hydrocortisone to reduce inflammation for this condition, and may also recommend use of a stronger antiseborrhic shampoo. If the condition worsens or lasts longer than three weeks, be sure to contact your baby's doctor.

Take light Olive Oil (Light- because regular smells wayyyy too strong), rub it in his hair twice a day for a few days (wash it out after about 10 mins). Should work somewhat well. Old Italian trick...makes their skin super soft if you use it like baby lotion haha

it will go away by it's self

A good way to do that is to put some baby oil on his head for a while before bath time and use a comb in the opposite direction the hair grows, to gently get rid of some of the flaking. Our nanny taught us that and it really worked. My son still has cradle cap at 8 months, but not nearly as bad as when he was newborn.
Are you breastfeeding? If so, go on a dairy elimination diet and see if that helps.

You can also try treating it with a fungal cream (like for athlete's foot). Some people put olive oil on, let it sit/soften, then comb out.

My hairdresser just told me not to use baby-ish shampoos as the pH balance can create cradle cap. You can use baking soda as a shampoo, or really carefully, adult shampoo. Wash only as often as truely needed. If he's not eating with his hands, or rolling around in the dirt, once a week would be enough.
First Rub some baby oil all over his scalp and wait 15mins so it softens the cradle cap and is easier to get rid of, then after the 15mins passed take a baby comb and comb it backwards so it lifts up from his scalp. Do that to his entire head and then give him a bath and wash his hair. Do that 2-3 times a week, babies should only be bathe 3 times a week.
rub baby oil on his head and with a baby comb gently comb out the excess.

It is more annoying to you than him

this wil take some time to go away... it will become less and less over time.....shampoo and condition baby's head -
Rub a lil baby oil on his head and the flakes will slide out while your comb his hair

Does ketoconazole shampoo for newborn cradle cap change the texture of their hair?

You should just use regular shampoo and while their hair is still wet put baby oil on the head and then use vasaline or ointment on it during the day :)

    target
Any drugstore or you can use baby oil.
The absolute best treatment for cradle cap is butter or margerine. I put it on, left it on for about 15 minutes and when i washed it off, it was gone.
    Wal-mart.
I have a 1yr old niece and always half to buy her stuff so the number one place I go to would half to be baby's r us it's the perfect baby store if you ask me they have everything.Good luck with your baby and hope this helps!!!!
Actually, the best way to get rid of it, is to rub baby oil in their hair. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and use a fine tooth comb. It combs right out, and the baby oil softens the cradle cap, so it shouldn't hurt your baby at all. My son had it bad the first couple of months. No matter what shampoo I used, the baby oil and comb worked the best!
You can use vegetable oil also. I used grape seed oil and left it on my baby's head for 15 minutes and then combed it out gently with my dogs UNUSED flea comb. I got it all out easily.
    shoprite or any market $3
i have seen it at walmart, target, babies R us and my local super market. if you can't find it try ordering it on line
My daughter's pediatrician said to use baby oil or just regular head %26amp; shoulders. I found that the head %26amp; shoulders worked better. I used it every other night, just be very careful not to get it in your baby's eyes. Within a week or so it started to clear up.
Walmart has one with winnie the pooh or piglet or someone like that on it. It's a blue/green bottle if I remember correctly. It's in the pharmacy section or the baby section. I've seen it in both places.
My son had cradle cap so bad his hair fell out. Baby oil and cradle cap shampoos didn't help. What finally cleared it up was using Aveeno Baby Shampoo. It's super sensitive. I washed his hair every day and gently brushed the loose flakes out. After a few days it cleared up and his hair began growing back.

So try that if the medicated stuff doesn't help!
just use baby oil! it's the best and doesn't have any weird ingredients.
Babies r'us...Mustela shampoo is very good
I agree with the people who said baby oil. I used baby oil and let it sit for 10 minutes, then used a soft baby brush and brushed his head in circular motions to loosen it, then wash hair with baby shampoo in the bath.

Did this a few times and it was gone for both my sons.
    babies r us
That depends on the state you are in target walmart or any pharmacy should have it.

hi not so sure about that but email me your name and address and ill post some out to you asap,ps how old is baby?Where can i buy dentinox cradle cap shampoo here in the philippines?
if your baby has cradle cap, wash more often w/ reg shamp, and rinse thoroughly. My best advice, rub a bit of gentle lotion into babies scalp to soften gunk and soothe scalp, then brush for several minutes w/ soft brush down to scalp gently to loosen gunk, concentrate on areas w/ alot. then put baby in bathtub gently rub massage w/ fingertips and shampoo on babies scalp to remove gunk. If you do this everday, or every 2 days it should help alot. Brushing even short baby from the scalp helps to loosen and bring natural oils up from hair roots, will halp make hair soft, healthy, and lessen cradle cap.

A cap of the shampoo bottle fell down my shower drain, and now the water is backing up?

This happened a couple day's ago...and now, the water is backing up. It takes quite awhile for the water to go down. What should I do..?

I need help, please, and thank you.A cap of the shampoo bottle fell down my shower drain, and now the water is backing up?
Bend a coat hangar into a U shape. Put the ends into the drain and hold the coat hangar by the U.

The spring action you get should be enough to hold the cap as it lifts out of the drain.

If it doesn't work you may need a plumber.A cap of the shampoo bottle fell down my shower drain, and now the water is backing up?
Take a plastic cap of any jar bigger than the choked drain.Make hole at center of approx 20 mm Dia. Fit this cap at the end of Vacuum cleaner pipe with suitable glue, make sure the cut hole does not remain outside the pipe.Once you feel the drain is empty, Place this cap pressed above drain %26amp; start the vacuum cleaner. The shampoo bottle cap will be sucked.

The other alternative is to connect small flexible PVC pipe at the end of Vacuum cleaner pipe with suitable method [ you may use suitable sized cold drink / juice plastic bottle to fit on to vacuum cleaner pipe by cutting the same at mid way or so %26amp; the threaded neck to fit small PVC pipe] insert this small pipe inside the drain. any foreign bodies inside the drain will be remain sucked at the end of this pipe once you start up the vacuum cleaner. All the best.
Well first take tweezers or something as small as it and try and check for hair. I know it sounds gross but sometimes there is old hair that gets caught in drains and when enough builds up, well, produces discoloured water and takes awhile for the water to drain. And if you can try to get the drain lid up, you can with some showers and try and check to see if you can see that lid in there. If it's in there you need to get it out with a snake, some of the plunger solutions or call professional help. I'd try and snake it out first though. Snakes can be used for getting clogs out of drains and work very well :) Not very expensive either so give that a try and see if you can't get it out if it's stuck good luck!
If you live in an apartment building call the super/maintenance guy. If you live in your own house call a plumber. They will probably be able to get it out, I would not leave it there though since its obviously stuck somewhere and the back up could get worse over time.
fish it out of there with something. if its that bad ask a plumber to get it for you.
its only plastic ..drill a small hole in it ..then fit a long screw into it ..then pull screw and top out

How do you make a shampoo cap (amounts of peroxide and shampoo) how long on hair, what does it do?

I use a shampoo 'cocktail' (half oz. 20 volume peroxide and enough shampoo to lather the hair) on my very light brown hair. It is shampooed into the hair and left on about 5- 7 minutes. It doesn't really show up the first time, it takes a couple of treatments to notice the blonde highlights. Once the highlights are how I want them (2 or 3 treatments), I repeat once or twice a month, any more than that and I get roots that need to be covered up.How do you make a shampoo cap (amounts of peroxide and shampoo) how long on hair, what does it do?
We used to mix peroxide and just enough shampoo to suds up - to a new color if it seemed to dark on the ends. And left it on anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Measurement depended on amount of hair. Never used left over color or water. Water will just dilute the peroxide. How do you make a shampoo cap (amounts of peroxide and shampoo) how long on hair, what does it do?
That is an old term! Most likely it is still made with the bit of colour left in the bottle and a couple of drops of shampoo mixed with some water, shaken together, and left on for no more than about 5 minutes at the end of a colour session. The reason for this is to refresh colour that has faded throughout the hair strand. It is not meant for serious colour work. I was a hairdresser for many years.

Can I mix color with shampoo to make a 'Shampoo Cap'?

I had a stylist do this to my hair recently, and the color was very even and rich. They mixed the color treatment with shampoo, worked it in like you would in the bath, (a lot of lather) put a plastic cap on and placed me under the dryer for a about 7 minutes.

Can I do this myself? I seemed very easy?

Is there a certain ';shampoo'; I can use, or any will do?

Thanks! Can I mix color with shampoo to make a 'Shampoo Cap'?
you can try, but if you're not entirely sure, then ask the stylist about it just in case you do something wrong or sumthin...

What is good baby shampoo for cradle cap?

I have 2 month old son, and he has cradle cap on his head and forehead. I rub baby oil on it and let it sit for like 30min before bath. but it doesn't look getting better. I used aveeno dark blue bottle shampoo and Johnson and Johnson (yellow one) any recommendation for baby shampoo or soap? Is it better to put lotion on his forehead after a bath?

His forehead cradle cap looks red, oily and looks itchy also, is it something I need to take him to doctor?

I need some help! ThanksWhat is good baby shampoo for cradle cap?
When we took a new baby class our teacher told us that Aveeno was the best shampoo for cradle cap and Johnson and Johnson was the worst. Other than that I would ask your pediatrician. What is good baby shampoo for cradle cap?
my 2 month son is going through the same thing. it's getting better though. we just use johnson %26amp; johnson baby shampoo and then use a soft bristle brush and gentle massage his scalp with it and then rinse it off. With his forehead/eyebrows I just use a baby wash clothe and gentle exfoliate his face. I put aveeno baby lotion on his face and rub into his hair also and massage his head with it. you also can use cortizone 1% on his face (his pediatrician recommended it) and that helps also.
My daughter had cradle cap too. I called the doctor and the nurse told me to use Aveeno Baby Shampoo two to three times a day. After the shampoo is rinsed out, brush his hair with a soft brush or comb and then apply Aquaphor baby lotion on his head each time and brush it in. Doing this for a few days worked for my daughter! The nurse said that if the ears look like it too, then the doctor needs to take a look. Good luck to you!
Baby oil is great! After letting it sit on the scalp for a few minutes, take a fine tooth comb and comb the cradle cap off. It's really easy! It may take a few times to get all of it. Good luck!
Best thing--leave it alone. It will go away on its own. Just gently wash with a baby washcloth during bath time. Looks worse than it actually is.
i would skip the store brand items and take him to your pediatrician. it could be a little bit worse than cradle cap, like eczema. they might prescribe something for him.

I have a suave shampoo cap lodged in my drain, How do i remove it or melt it??

I had to make a hook out of a piece of wire hanger to do this one time. I made a small hook on the end, pushed it in beside the cap and then turned it under the edge on the bottom. It came out on the first try.

I would say NOT to melt it. If you try melting it, you're likely to end up with a glob of plastic a little further down your drain and that would take major work to get out.

Best of luck.I have a suave shampoo cap lodged in my drain, How do i remove it or melt it??
If you can reach it,poke it with a screw, thread it in and pull it out.I have a suave shampoo cap lodged in my drain, How do i remove it or melt it??
Use a screw driver to bend in the side then grab with eyebrow tweezers or eye brow pluckers
try using a flathead screwdriver thats what i did
    pliers.
    try using tweezers.
    Poke a hole in it.

Put a drywall or large thread screw in it and pull it out with plyers.
Needle nosed pliers, or a plumber's snake.
Did the same thing... I used a screw driver to try and get under it, without it going further down and used needle nose pliers to get it out the rest of the way... good luck!!
    Stab it and pull out.
use a piece of gum on your finger or grab it with a pair of pliers
use a plier..works for me (if it's upside down, use the hook)
There is a screw grabber type of tool that has a plunger on one end and four claw like fingers on the other. You can get em' up to about 3' long. Mechanics use em' for picking screws out of hard to get places when they drop them in an engine. Push the plunger down and the fingers open. Pull the plunger up and the fingers close down and grasp. Work it slowly back and forth till it breaks the stuck cap free and lifts out.

You might want to use a coat hanger cut into a long hook to loosen it first. Then pull it out. If you can't get screw grabber (above)

Might try using duct tape so sticky side is out on the end of the hook after you loosen the cap in the throat of pipe, to stick to the duct tape so it can be lifted out too.

You'll get it. Hang in there and think about what you need to do. It'll lift out. Don't use heat and don't force it down any further in your efforts. Succes to you!
use a shop-vac. if you have one.

    I
i use a pair of scissors to grab it and pull it out pliers wont help
Would pliers help? Maybe a screwdriver?
Needlenose pliers or the long long tweezers, you can buy them in the pharmacy.
